CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAIR ERIC C. BAUMAN, ASSEMBLYMEMBER MARC LEVINE (D-SAN RAFAEL) MOURN THE PASSING OF SONOMA DEMOCRATIC LEADER HELEN O’DONNELL
CHAIR ERIC C. BAUMAN, CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY:
“California Democrats lost a dear friend and a true Blue heroine as Helen O’Donnell of Sonoma passed away this week. Helen was a pillar of our Democratic movement in Sonoma and Chair of the county’s fundraising committee. A longtime organizer of the Sonoma County Democratic Party’s one-of-a-kind crab feeds, she was honored at the 2017 event with the Roberta Hollowell Award. Through her leadership and the countless hours she committed to electing Democrats, raising money for Blue candidates, mentoring young leaders, and serving as a state party delegate, Helen has left an enduring mark on our Party and the Golden State.
“In her professional life with the California Teachers Association, Helen empowered teachers to strengthen their vital profession for the benefit of California’s students and our future.
“Helen’s passing is a shock and a significant loss for our community of Democrats and the Sonoma family she loved dearly. We send our deep condolences and support to Helen’s mother, sister and family.
“As we mourn the loss of our friend and colleague, California Democrats will honor Helen by working even harder to achieve her vision for our Blue state.”
